Partners in Policy Making

Project Start Date: 01.01.09

Project End Date: 31.07.09

Host Organisation: In Control

Nature of Organisation:
Partners in Policymaking run a series of training courses which focus on developing community based leadership for disabled people and their families.

All our courses enable people to become actively engaged in the development of policy affecting disabled people both at local and national level. We teach participants up to date leading edge information, confidence and strategies work in partnership with professionals and Members of Parliament.

The work we do is underpinned by the belief that disabled people and their families have always been the true experts on what they need in order to have positive control of their lives.

Our focus on developing community based leadership has meant that we have a great network of disabled people, family carers and professionals all working together.

Graduates from all Partners in Policymaking courses actively participate in their regional and national networks offering information and support to families locally and also actively engaging with local and national Government to ensure that families and individuals are continually consulted.

Partners in Policymaking run a range of courses including Partners in Policymaking, Sharing Knowledge and Kindred Spirits. As well as these courses we also run further courses which have been developed to respond to people's needs.
