It's any change to the way adult social care services are provided (or planned, commissioned or monitored) that aims to improve the lives of people using those services but is not yet available everywhere to everyone, or recognised as a 'mainstream' job, role or service.
New types of Working might not even be that new! Where it is happening and happening well it might have been doing so for some time, but is it available everywhere to everyone?
It might not even have started happening yet; it could be just a plan, dissatisfaction or an aspiration. It is about creative thinking and trying unusual solutions to the way people work. It might be about delivering direct services or changing the way services are backed up by policies, processes, joint working or contracting. It might be situations where 'services' or skills are mutually exchanged.
